Paul Potts Tour in Korea (폴 포츠 - 내한 공연)

2008년 5월 3일 - 이화여대 대강당에서 한국의 첫 방문 공연. 실제로 오페라 음악을 오케스트라의 음악과 듣는 다는 것이 이렇게 감동적이라는 느낌이다. CD로 듣듣 것과는 감동이 차이가 이렇게 많이.... 하는 생각이다. 한가지 아쉬움은 통역부분에서 통역사가 Paul Potts의 생각을 잘 전달도 못해거니와 이런 사람을 어떻게 통역사로 쓸 수 있나 하는 생각이다. 통역이라는 것은 단어 하나 하나를 번역하는 것이 아니라 그 사람 말의 취지를 전달하는 것이다. (많은 사람이 통역된 내용에 대해서 비웃음을 보낼 정도니 ......) 공연 중 가장 인상에 남았던 것은 오페라와 같은 클래식을 접할 때, 어려움이 있는데 곡 중간 중간 멘트와 폴 포츠 자신의 느낌을 전하고 음악을 듣는 것이 곡을 이해하고 접하는 데 새로운 접근이였다. 실제로 소프라노 김은경씨도 무대에서 노래만 불럴지 이렇게 멘트는 처음이라고 긴장을 하는 모습이 무척 친근하고 오페라라는 음악이 이렇게 우리와 가깝게 있구나는 느낄 수 있는 좋을 기회였다. 김은경씨의 다음과 같은 멘트는 참 가슴에 와 닿았다. 초심의 열정이 얼마나 중요한지 알 수 있었다는 폴 포츠와의 연습에서 느꼈다는 요지인데, 보통 정규 코스(서울대, 이태리 음악원 등)를 밞지 않는 사람이지만 처음의 열정에서 많은 것을 새롭게 느꼈다는 ...... 이렇게 클래식 음악이 벽을 조금 허물 수 있다면, 대중와 더욱 가깝게 다가설 수 있구나 하는 생각이였다. 중반 소프라노 김은경씨와의 베르디의 "Brindisi"의 협연은 정말 훌륭했다. 실제로 공연을 접한다는 것이 얼마나 큰 감동인지 느낄 수 있는 좋은 기회였다. While reading this book, I looked back my life and think over something about me. Regrets, World and Feeling sorry for youself ....... The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others. The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love. Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too. In second class, my teacher and I talked about friends including girl friends and boy friends. What is a real friendship? Is it possible to have a real friendship between girl and guy? I think that a real friendship is trust against the other. There are no why, how and what in trust. The trust of friendship is just one way like a one-side love. This point is different from love between lovers.

Sometimes after work, when I'm driving home, I think that there is something missing. What is missing in my life ? Passion, love, friends, and dream ........ I also take a lesson in English from my teacher who I always respect on every Tuesday. I have learned the right way to live and think as well as English skills. "Have you found someone to share your heart with?" "Are you giving to your community?" "Are you at peace with yourself?" "Are you trying to be as human as you can be?" It is very hard for me to communicate exactly my ideas to my teacher through a foreign language. But, my teacher seems to understand my thoughts and opinion well. As my English skills improves, I believe that my teacher will comprehend my thought with feeling well.
